Working Out Your Why - How This Can Transform Your Writing!
Discover how author Mark Stuart achieved his dream of publishing by focusing on what was really important to him
How To Keep Your Reasons for WHY You are Writing Your Story at the Forefront, and How to Structure Your Process!
The most important factor for us as a publishing house is helping a writer work out what their WHY is when starting their publishing journey. Having this really clear in your mind when writing, and especially throughout the process of your work culminating into a completed book ready for readers everywhere to read, is going to be the anchor that keeps you rooted along the way to becoming a published author. It also really helps you to stay inspired and motivated, as we all know as creatives, we can sometimes lose sight of the reason why we are writing when we allow ourselves to become stressed by external factors!
We recently spoke with our published author Mark Stuart about his journey of getting his book out there for thousands of readers to learn from and enjoy, and a little bit about the reason why he wrote his book, as he is a great example of a writer who kept this in his mind’s eye throughout the process.

Mark’s Background and How That Influenced His Writing
“Well, I have had a standard life really, and just try to keep my head above water. I grew up and studied various topics at school and then went out to work with a rounded knowledge expecting to have a career in finance after taking some time gaining experience as a temp. I did go on to qualify as a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. However, things took a turn for the worse for me. After being diagnosed with the shocking news of multiple sclerosis, I did my best and carried on regardless. Finally, I found myself made redundant during the first wave of Covid-19. I was left all alone with my thoughts and so studied to be and qualified as a Life Coach. Failing to get any clients, I started a journal to keep occupied. Interestingly I found that the more I wrote, the more the action of writing was drawing out of my experiences, and an account of my behaviour and the direction I was moving in. Sure, there were times I struggled to think but I set myself a minimum word count to achieve daily of just 100.”
We think this level of focus and structure that Mark placed on the process of creating his book has certainly been a contributing factor to his achievements, as he provided himself with a minimum word count which meant that no matter what happened each day, he had contributed towards the book. Setting yourself deadlines and focus tasks like this can be really instrumental in getting one step closer to completing your book, and is a very effective way to keeping on track
Mark’s Inspirations when Writing and Why He Chose to Work with Us
“I have an interest in the Bible and find reading scripture daily gives me hope, even when everything seems bleak. I think above all Stephen King and Terry Pratchett are also incredible influences, as well as the Bible.”
“I chose Publishing Push to publish my book after looking around my options including self-publishing, but felt that I was very satisfied with the service I received from Publishing Push. The work they have done to finish a polished properly published manuscript with cover art, proofreading and formatting. of the book is splendid. The book is now finished, and available in both paperback and eBook on the Kindle App, which is just wonderful!
When Publishing Push first started publishing my book, they told me to keep writing and gave me the confidence I needed to remember my WHY- great advice!”
We have loved working with Mark to help him achieve his goal of becoming a published author, and we truly believe that his journey has been so successful due to his focus on the reasons why it was so important to get his story out there.
