πŸ“ˆ Book Marketing Hack

Today's hack comes from our marketing course and from author Laura Bird. Laura connects with a charity close to her heart. She donates books to the charity and money from her book sales. In return, the charity promotes her book at events, and dinners, to their social media followers and email list.

It doesn't have to be a charity either. Any relevant organisation that you can affiliate with is key. Tap into someone else's audience.

Laura had lots more book marketing advice and you can learn more here in our book marketing course

πŸ–ŠοΈ Writing Hack

Write crap. Yup just write. You have to put pen to pad or finger to key and get writing. Once you start the story will flow. I wrote the first draft of this email quickly. There were spelling mistakes, jumbled words, and parts that had no punctuation but I just got my thoughts out and then went back and did my editing.

πŸš€ Productivity Hack

The Pomodoro technique. Sounds fancy but put simply you write for 25 minutes. Take a 5-minute break. Write for 25 minutes and take a 5-minute break and so on. I really like this technique. Give it a try and let me know how you get on.

πŸ‘‚ Author Quotes

Your book is always valuable. Whether it takes 3 weeks to become a bestseller or 3 years the content of your book remains just as valuable as the day it was written.

❀️ Author Stories

Jay Sonty, who decided to illustrate his own books has got his stories on the shelves of The Cleeve Bookshop.

"The Cleeve Bookshop has only opened in the last three weeks. I introduced myself and explained that I was a local author and told them all about my books. Will (the bookshop owner) said he would be delighted to stock my books and, thanks to the way Publishing Push has organised the distribution of my books, it was very straightforward for the books to go straight onto the display in the bookshop when they opened. It's a very exciting development in my career as an author which, thanks to your help, has turned from a dream to a reality.

The Writer’s Job-Newsletter rounds up the best paid writing jobs and sends them out to over 3,000 writers, every Sunday. They share calls to pitch (like this at Elite Daily gig paying $250+) or longer-term gigs (like this journalist/copywriter at Square paying $45+ per hour). Check the latest issues out here.
